Riverfront Park is the green heart of Spokane, a 100-acre urban park in the centre of the city, built around the dramatic Spokane Falls, where the river tumbles over a series of cascades right downtown. Created as the site of Expo '74 (the world's fair), it retains landmarks from that era and has been beautifully renewed, with riverside paths, bridges over the falls, public art, and a striking pavilion. Family favourites include the historic, hand-carved Looff Carrousel and the giant Radio Flyer red-wagon slide, while the SkyRide gondola glides out over the thundering falls for a thrilling view.

It's the perfect place to experience Spokane, the roar of the falls (most powerful in spring snowmelt), the open lawns, the seasonal events, and the connecting Centennial Trail. Free to enter (individual attractions like the carrousel and gondola are ticketed), it's an easy, scenic stop for all ages. Allow a couple of hours, more with the rides.

Don't miss
