The Palace of Fine Arts is a monumental structure originally built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition, designed to evoke a Roman ruin. Its massive rotunda, colonnades, and tranquil lagoon create a picturesque setting popular for photography and strolls. The palace was reconstructed in the 1960s and now houses the Exploratorium's theater and a small science museum. Visitors can walk around the lagoon, admire the intricate sculptures, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere away from the city's bustle.
Don't miss
- Photograph the iconic rotunda reflected in the lagoon at sunset
- Stroll through the colonnade and spot the weeping women sculptures
- Visit the adjacent Exploratorium for hands-on science exhibits
