The Lobero Theatre, opened in 1873 and rebuilt in 1922, is California's oldest continuously operating theater. This intimate venue hosts a diverse lineup of concerts, plays, dance performances, and community events. Visitors appreciate its warm ambiance, excellent acoustics, and historic charm, with original Spanish Colonial Revival details. The theater's relatively small size (about 600 seats) ensures every seat feels close to the stage. Its central location on upper State Street makes it a cultural cornerstone of Santa Barbara.
