A bit of history

Founded in 1980 by historian John Kuo Wei Tchen and community activist Charles Lai, MOCA began as the New York Chinatown History Project. It evolved into a full-fledged museum dedicated to preserving the legacy of Chinese Americans. The current building on Centre Street opened in 2009, designed by architect Maya Lin.
