Madaket Ditch is a historic canal dug in the 1700s to connect Madaket Harbor with the Atlantic Ocean, originally used for salt hay harvesting and flood control. Today, it is a tranquil spot for fishing, particularly for striped bass and bluefish. A walking path runs alongside the ditch, offering views of salt marshes and birdlife. Visitors can also launch kayaks or simply sit on the grassy banks and watch the tide flow. The ditch's calm waters and surrounding dunes create a peaceful setting for a short excursion.
