Port Republic is a historic village in Calvert County that retains much of its 18th- and 19th-century character. The centerpiece is Christ Church, a stunning brick church built in 1772, surrounded by a graveyard with centuries-old headstones. Visitors can also see the Port Republic School No. 7, a one-room schoolhouse, and several historic homes. The village is quiet and rural, with interpretive signs that tell the story of its role as a colonial port and later a crossroads community.
