Slaughterhouse Beach, officially named Mokuleʻia Beach, is a picturesque cove on Maui's northwest coast famed for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and striking black lava rock formations. The beach is nestled between rugged cliffs, creating a sheltered swimming area that is popular with snorkelers and sunbathers. Its name derives from a nearby former slaughterhouse, but the beach itself is a serene escape. Access requires descending a steep set of stairs, but the reward is a pristine, less-crowded spot with excellent snorkeling conditions when the ocean is calm.
Don't miss
- Snorkel in the clear turquoise waters among tropical fish.
