Kalākaua Park is the heart of downtown Hilo, a shaded green space surrounded by historic buildings. Visitors can stroll past the ornate bandstand, which hosts occasional concerts, and view memorials dedicated to Hawaii's veterans. The park's most famous feature is the Naha Stone, a 7,000-pound basalt boulder associated with King Kamehameha I. It's a peaceful spot for a break, with benches and a grassy lawn ideal for picnicking or people-watching.
