The Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is a preserved steam locomotive that has been carrying passengers through the rugged San Juan Mountains since the 1880s. Visitors board vintage cars for a round-trip journey along the Animas River, passing through deep gorges, pine forests, and high alpine meadows. The route follows the original narrow-gauge tracks, offering a glimpse into Colorado's mining and railroad history. The experience includes the rhythmic chug of the engine, the smell of coal smoke, and panoramic vistas that are especially stunning in autumn when the aspens turn gold.

Don't miss
