This was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I was blown away! The collards and the rice were phenomenal, the spice level of my tibs entree was just right. The flavors were so unique! The portions were also very generous.
This was my first time trying Ethiopian food, and overall, the experience was mixed. I expected the veggie plate to be served warm, but it arrived cold, which was a bit disappointing. The food itself was decent, though the chicken tips portion felt quite small. What really stood out, however, was the lackluster service. It was very slow, and honestly, it didn’t feel like there was much effort put into it. At one point, the server dropped a straw on the way to our table, picked it up, and handed it to us instead of getting a fresh one, which felt unhygienic. Despite mentioning that it was our first time, the server didn’t explain the menu or offer any recommendations, which would have been helpful. Additionally, we were told to scan a QR code for the menu, yet I noticed other tables being given paper menus, which felt inconsistent. I’m taking off 2 stars for the service, as it really detracted from the overall experience.
we were in the mood for ethiopian and had heard good things about Desta so went to try it out. we ordered the beef sambusa and the vegan platter. the sambusa was good and the sauce accompanying was really spicy. the vegan platter was plentiful and had a variety of options including lentils, beets, cabbage, spinach, tomatoes and others along with injera bread. the food was plentiful and the flavors good. overall good food, big portions and good service
Yohannes made sure we tried every single dish. The experience is phenomenal and the food is to die for! 5 star experience!
