The Hammond–Harwood House is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of colonial architecture in America, designed by William Buckland in 1774. This five-part Georgian mansion features intricate woodwork, period furnishings, and a symmetrical layout that reflects the ideals of the Enlightenment. Visitors can tour the elegantly appointed rooms, including the grand parlor and dining room, and stroll through the restored formal gardens. The house museum provides a vivid window into the lives of Annapolis's wealthy merchant class on the eve of the American Revolution.
