Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps is one of Cornwall's most iconic coastal landmarks, where a series of massive granite sea stacks rise from the beach below. The site is managed by the National Trust, and the main viewpoint from the clifftop offers a stunning panorama of the stacks, which are named after local legends. A steep, historic staircase (the 'Steps') leads down to the beach, but access is tide-dependent and can be dangerous in rough weather. The surrounding heathland is rich in wildflowers and seabirds, making it a popular stop along the South West Coast Path between Padstow and Newquay.

Don't miss

  • The dramatic sea stacks, including Queen Bess and Samaritan Island
  • The clifftop viewpoint with benches for whale-watching in season
  • The descent via the historic Bedruthan Steps (check tides before going down)
