Huer's Hut is a small, whitewashed stone lookout perched on the cliffs above Newquay. Dating from the 18th century, it was used by 'huers' who watched for schools of pilchards and shouted or signaled to fishing boats below. Today, it's a beloved landmark offering stunning views of the coastline and the Atlantic. Visitors can climb up to the hut, read the information panel about its history, and imagine the bustling pilchard fishery that once thrived here.

Don't miss

  • Stand inside the hut and look out over the sea, imagining the huers' shouts to fishermen below.
  • Enjoy panoramic views from the cliff top, stretching from Towan Head to the Gannel Estuary.
