Black Ven is a striking coastal landslide between Lyme Regis and Charmouth, renowned as one of Britain's most productive fossil sites. The unstable cliffs constantly erode, revealing fossils from the Jurassic period, particularly ammonites and belemnites. Visitors can explore the beach and scree slopes, but must be cautious of falling rocks and tides. The site is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, offering a raw, geological experience.

Don't miss

  • Search for fossils on the beach and among the fallen rocks, especially after storms or high tides.
  • Observe the dramatic, constantly changing landscape shaped by landslides.
  • Visit the Lyme Regis Museum to see famous fossils found here, including the first complete Ichthyosaur.
