The Port of Liverpool Building is a striking Edwardian Baroque structure completed in 1907, originally housing the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board. Its most recognizable feature is the large copper-clad dome, which turns green with age, topped by a lantern. The exterior is adorned with sculptures representing navigation, commerce, and the sea. As part of the 'Three Graces,' it anchors Liverpool's UNESCO-listed waterfront. While the interior is not generally open to the public, the building's exterior offers a masterclass in early 20th-century civic architecture and maritime symbolism.
