Glasgow Necropolis

Glasgow Necropolis is a Victorian garden cemetery laid out in the 1830s, modeled on Père Lachaise in Paris. Perched on a low hill east of the cathedral, it contains around 3,500 tombs and monuments, many elaborately carved with symbols of mortality and resurrection. Visitors can wander the winding paths among grand mausoleums, obelisks, and statues, including the prominent 50-foot-tall monument to John Knox. The site provides sweeping views of the city skyline and the cathedral precinct.
