Designed by Thomas Telford and completed in 1822, this engineering marvel raises boats 64 feet (19.5 meters) over a distance of about a quarter-mile. Visitors can watch the lock system in operation, walk along the towpath, and enjoy views of the surrounding Highlands. The site offers a unique glimpse into Scotland's industrial heritage and the ingenuity required to connect the east and west coasts.
