Hawk Bridge is a striking iron structure that arches gracefully over the River Great Ouse near Ely. Built in the 19th century, its riveted girders and stone abutments evoke the engineering heritage of the Fens. Visitors can cross the bridge on foot or by bike, pausing to watch river traffic pass beneath or to admire the expansive views of the surrounding wetlands. The bridge is a popular spot for photographers, especially at sunset when the metalwork glows against the sky. It also serves as a gateway to riverside walks and nature trails.

Don't miss

  • Photographing the bridge's iron lattice against the Fenland horizon
  • Watching barges navigate the Great Ouse from the bridge's footpath
  • Cycling across the bridge as part of a loop along the riverbank
