Durham Museum is located in the city's former railway station, a Victorian building that itself is a piece of history. The museum's exhibits cover the social and industrial history of Durham, from its mining heritage to its role in the development of the railway. Visitors can see a reconstructed Victorian street, a 1950s front room, and displays on the Durham Light Infantry. The museum also has a café in the old station booking hall and a gift shop. It's an excellent place to understand the everyday lives of Durham's residents through the centuries.
