The Copeland Islands, Big Copeland, Lighthouse Island, and Mew Island, lie just a few miles offshore from Donaghadee. Designated an Area of Special Scientific Interest, they are a haven for birdwatchers, with puffins, razorbills, and guillemots nesting on the cliffs. The islands are accessible by seasonal boat trips, which often circle the shores for wildlife viewing. Visitors can also explore the ruins of an old church on Big Copeland and the historic lighthouses on the smaller islands.
Don't miss
- Spot puffins and other seabirds on the cliffs and grassy slopes
- Take a boat trip around the islands for close-up views of wildlife
- Visit the remains of a 12th-century church on Big Copeland
