Cape Henry Memorial, part of Colonial National Historical Park, commemorates the April 26, 1607 landing of English colonists who later founded Jamestown. A granite cross, erected in 1935 by the Daughters of the American Colonists, marks the approximate spot. Visitors can walk a short path to the cross, read wayside exhibits about the landing and the native Chesapeake people, and enjoy views of the Chesapeake Bay. The site is adjacent to the Cape Henry Lighthouse, offering a combined historic visit.

Don't miss

  • Stand at the granite cross marking the first English landing site in Virginia.
  • Read the interpretive panels about the 1607 expedition and the native inhabitants.
  • Combine with a visit to the adjacent Cape Henry Lighthouse (separate fee).
