Yankee Boy Basin is a high alpine valley in the San Juan Mountains, renowned for its spectacular wildflower displays in summer and its close-up views of the 14,158-foot Mount Sneffels. The basin sits at around 11,000 feet, offering a surreal landscape of tundra, streams, and rocky peaks. Visitors can drive a high-clearance 4WD road to access the basin, then hike short trails to enjoy the scenery, photograph the flowers, or simply picnic amidst the peaks.
