Fish Creek Falls is a breathtaking 280-foot waterfall located in the Routt National Forest, just a few miles from downtown Steamboat Springs. The main viewing platform is a short, paved walk from the parking area, making it accessible to most visitors. For a more immersive experience, a moderate 2-mile round-trip hike continues to the upper falls. The waterfall plunges over granite cliffs into a pool surrounded by pine forest, with vibrant fall colors and wildflowers in season. It's a popular spot for photography, picnicking, and nature appreciation year-round.

Don't miss

  • View the lower falls from the accessible observation platform near the parking lot.
  • Hike the 2-mile round-trip trail to the upper falls for a closer look and solitude.
  • Visit in autumn for stunning foliage contrasting with the white water.
