The Schnebly Hill Formation is a geological treasure trove visible along Schnebly Hill Road, a rugged dirt route that climbs from Sedona to the Mogollon Rim. The road exposes vivid bands of red, orange, white, and purple sedimentary rock, including the famous Schnebly Hill Sandstone. Visitors can stop at pullouts to photograph the layered cliffs and distant mesas. The drive is popular for its dramatic scenery and access to hiking trails like the Huckaby Trail. High-clearance vehicles are recommended for the bumpy road.
