Old Sacramento State Historic Park preserves a 28-block district of the city as it appeared during the Gold Rush era. Visitors can walk on wooden sidewalks past brick-and-iron buildings housing candy stores, saloons, and museums. The cobblestone streets and horse-drawn carriages evoke the 1850s, while the Sacramento River levee offers scenic views. Highlights include the B.F. Hastings Building (site of the first Pony Express terminal) and the Sacramento History Museum.
