A bit of history
Highmark Stadium opened in 2013, replacing the aging Falconi Field as the home of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. It was built on the site of a former rail yard in Station Square, a historic area once a major railroad hub. The stadium was funded through a public-private partnership and named after Highmark, a health insurance company.
