Portavant Mound, located within Emerson Point Preserve, is a prehistoric shell mound built by indigenous peoples over 1,000 years ago. A short interpretive trail leads to the top of the mound, offering expansive views of the Manatee River and Tampa Bay. Visitors can learn about the area's early inhabitants through informational signs along the path. The mound is a peaceful spot for reflection and photography, surrounded by the preserve's natural beauty.
