Twin Lakes, located just outside Mammoth Lakes town, consist of Upper and Lower Twin Lakes connected by a short channel. These crystal-clear waters are popular for trout fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. A gentle 2-mile trail loops around the lakes, passing through pine forests and offering postcard views of the Mammoth Crest. In summer, the lakes are stocked with rainbow and brown trout, making them a favorite for anglers. The area also provides access to the Pacific Crest Trail.

Don't miss

  • Fish for rainbow and brown trout from the shore or a rented boat
  • Hike the Twin Lakes Loop Trail for easy lakeside scenery and wildlife
  • Rent a kayak or paddleboard to explore the calm waters up close
