Lake Mary is the biggest of the chain of Mammoth Lakes, sitting at 8,900 feet in elevation. Its clear waters are regularly stocked with trout, attracting anglers year-round. A paved trail circles the lake, perfect for walking, biking, and wheelchair access. The lake also serves as a trailhead for hikes to nearby gems like Horseshoe Lake, Lake George, and the Crystal Lake Trail. In summer, non-motorized boats are allowed, and the surrounding forest offers picnic spots with mountain views.

Don't miss

  • Cast a line for stocked rainbow, brown, and brook trout from the shore or a float tube
  • Walk or bike the 1.5-mile paved Lake Mary Loop Trail
  • Hike to Crystal Lake for a pristine alpine experience with fewer crowds
