Malibu Creek State Park spans over 8,000 acres of rugged terrain in the Santa Monica Mountains. Visitors can hike through oak woodlands and chaparral to reach the former set of the TV series M*A*S*H, where a few rusted vehicles and a helicopter remain. The park is a hub for rock climbing, with popular routes on sheer volcanic rock faces. Creekside trails and a natural rock pool offer spots for picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Don't miss

  • Hike the 2-mile loop to the M*A*S*H set ruins, including a vintage jeep and ambulance.
  • Climb the volcanic rock formations at the popular climbing area known as 'Planet of the Apes.'
  • Swim or cool off at the seasonal Rock Pool, a deep natural swimming hole along Malibu Creek.
