✨ Highlightn/naka is simply stunning from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and lead to our table. The space itself is gorgeous. The service is warm, friendly and approachable - never stuffy or stiff as some might expect of a 2 star Michelin restaurant. The menu is an exquisite journey - each course a work of art that builds on itself. The tasting menu changes 5 times a year. The highlights during our meal were the lobster croquette and the pasta with fish roe, abalone and truffles. Everything was incredible, but these 2 dishes were decadent and delicious. The meal is an experience to remember. There are those meals that stay with you for your lifetime, and Chef Niki has meticulously created that for diners here.→

✨ HighlightIt had been some time since I ate lunch at Sushi Gen primarily because of the challenge of getting downtown from the westside, and also due to the massive amount of people who go there for their incredible sashimi lunch special. But with the Dodgers championship parade today and the need to wait out the throngs of people before I could leave the area, I waited a very short time before getting the first available space, which was a seat at the sushi bar (no lunch special at the bar). Sushi Gen is a timeless classic. It is so reliable for a great variety of fresh, authentic sushi at what I consider throwback prices. You won't find any crazy rolls or sauces here, all the better to allow the chefs to focus on the essence of the fish which is best experienced unadorned in my opinion. I had eight orders, including varieties rarely found at other Japanese restaurants in LA (including engawa, kohada, sardine and shima aji). Feeling very satisfied and impressed by the consistency of the experience so many years apart, I was pleasantly surprised (there are no prices on the sushi menu at the bar) to see a pretax and tip bill of $66 which averages out to just over $8 per order - a steal for this quality, freshness and variety. The only drawback is that it is very crowded, which is not surprising given that the sushi is as good as it gets in LA. In order to accommodate as many people as possible, they really squeeze people in at the sushi bar and the tables in the relatively small dining room are also tightly packed. Service is almost too efficient as they are eager to accommodate the many people waiting outside. For me, the most accurate rating for Sushi Gen would be 4.5 if 1/2 stars were possible as these crowded conditions are less than ideal for what should be a more serene experience. But that won't deter me from finding a reason to be downtown so I can go back soon.→

✨ HighlightThe Panang Curry was magic! It was so tasty we were lapping it up outta the bowl like dogs on a hot day. The Jade Noodle was pretty bland over all and it's only saving grace was the crispy pork; THAT was delicious. Pad Thai was the last dish and it's Pad Thai, so not new territory but well executed. The place got packed shortly after we were sat for dinner and it's a small place so expect a line depending on the time of day. No frills type of place; just room to eat and plenty of Michelin stickers to look at while you wait although this is not a Michelin Star restaurant so just be aware of that. Service was good; food came out fast and our waiter communicated effectively. Was a good time all in all.→

✨ HighlightHad a chance to have lunch at Jitlada. They have an extensive menu. We were very happy with the food that we ordered. We had the Pad Thai Tamarind Sauce with Mixed Seafood. It was the best Pad Thai we've tasted. Their Garlic Red Snapper is so flavorful. The Garlic Soft Shell Crabs has a nice crunch. Service was very good. We will be back to try their other dishes.→

✨ HighlightCame here on a weeknight and there was no wait. There is street parking so can be difficult if it’s busy. You order from a QR code and the food gets delivered after sending it in. There are pictures so it helps with deciding what you want. Most of the food has that Szechuan spice so you will get that numbing goodness that is pretty additive. The inside has a couple of tables good for groups between 4 to 6. I highly recommend the Toothpick Lamb and Cold Noodles as they complement each other very nicely. The Kung Pao Chicken was pretty spicy but was delicious with white rice. Overall, enjoyed the food and how quickly everything came out!→

✨ HighlightFinally got to come here and it did not disappoint. It was funny to see how every single table got the fried chicken. Our waiter recommended we use the sauce from the prawns for our chicken and that was the exact right recommendation. That said, the drunken noodles were really special too. Not oily, with a ton of nuanced flavor that you don't usually get for that dish.→

✨ HighlightMy husband and I visited Soban for lunch on a Sunday. We found free street parking nearby, which was convenient. The server was very friendly and provided great service. We ordered the Bibimbap and Soy Sauce Marinated Crab. The server explained clearly how to eat the marinated crab, which I had been eager to try. It didn’t disappoint—savory, umami, slightly spicy, and sweet. Paired with white rice, dried seaweed, and sesame oil, it was a fantastic combination. Although the prices are a bit high, the quality of the food made it worth it. Would definitely recommend 😋→
