The Fountains of Bellagio turn a hotel lake on the Las Vegas Strip into one of the best free shows in the world. Across an eight-acre lake, more than a thousand jets choreograph water to music and light, some shooting over 140 metres into the desert sky, in performances that run every 15–30 minutes through the evening. Each song gets its own choreography, from Sinatra to opera to pop, and the sheer scale of it stops crowds in their tracks along the Strip.

It costs nothing to watch, which is part of the charm in a city built on spending. The view from the railing on Las Vegas Boulevard is the classic one; for something special, a lakeside table at one of Bellagio's restaurants, or a Strip-facing room, puts the show at your feet.

Don't miss

  • Jets firing water over 140m to music and light
  • A rotating repertoire of songs, each with unique choreography
  • Watching for free from the Las Vegas Boulevard railing
  • Evening shows every 15 minutes, more frequent than daytime
  • Lakeside dining at Bellagio for a front-row table

Know before you go

  • It's completely free, ignore anyone offering paid 'access'.
  • Evening shows are more frequent and far more spectacular than daytime ones.
  • Arrive a couple of minutes early to claim a spot at the railing on busy nights.
  • High wind can cancel a show for safety, it's water and jets, after all.

A bit of history

The fountains opened in 1998 as the signature feature of the Bellagio resort, conceived by Steve Wynn and designed by WET, the company behind many of the world's most ambitious water features. They quickly became an icon of modern Las Vegas and have appeared in countless films.

Common questions

Is it really free?

Yes, the fountains are free to watch from the public sidewalk along Las Vegas Boulevard. No ticket required.

How often do they run?

Every 30 minutes in the afternoon and every 15 minutes in the evening, with later shows after dark being the most dramatic.

Where's the best spot?

The Strip-side railing gives the classic head-on view. A lakeside table at a Bellagio restaurant or a Strip-facing room puts you even closer.

Can the show be cancelled?

Yes, high winds can pause the fountains for safety. Otherwise they run reliably throughout the day into late evening.
