The Land Tortoise is a remarkably intact 1758 radeau, a flat-bottomed warship, that sank during the French and Indian War. Discovered in 1990, it rests on the lake bottom and is protected as a National Historic Landmark. Visitors can view the wreck through glass-bottom boat tours offered by the Lake George Battlefield Park, which provide a clear look at the ship's structure. The site offers a rare glimpse into 18th-century naval warfare and underwater archaeology.
