Audubon House and Tropical Gardens is a meticulously restored 19th-century home that once hosted naturalist John James Audubon during his Florida visit. Today, it displays a collection of his original hand-colored engravings, including the famous "Birds of America" plates. Visitors can explore the period-furnished rooms and then wander through the surrounding three-quarters of an acre of tropical gardens, which feature native plants, orchids, and a butterfly garden. The site offers a quiet retreat from Duval Street's bustle and provides insight into Key West's architectural and natural history.
