Simi Winery, one of Sonoma County’s oldest continuously operating wineries, sits in the Alexander Valley about 10 minutes north of Healdsburg. The property centers on a striking stone cellar built in 1890, where the winery still ages its wines. Guided tours take visitors through the cool, dim cellar to see rows of oak barrels and learn about Simi’s history, from its founding by two Italian brothers to its role in pioneering California Chardonnay. After the tour, guests can taste current releases in the modern tasting room or on a patio overlooking the vineyards. The winery is known for its balanced, food-friendly Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc.
