Tucked inside a historic cottage on Healdsburg’s Matheson Street, the Hand Fan Museum showcases a remarkable collection of more than 3,000 hand fans. The exhibits trace the fan’s evolution as both a functional tool and a decorative art form across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Visitors can see delicate lace fans from 18th-century France, painted silk fans from China, and novelty advertising fans from the early 1900s. Rotating displays highlight different themes, such as wedding fans or fan-making techniques. The intimate space allows for a close look at the intricate craftsmanship, and the knowledgeable staff often share stories behind the pieces.
