Fort Ellis, established in 1867 as a U.S. Army post, played a key role in protecting settlers and supporting expeditions during the Indian Wars. Today, the site is a historic area with interpretive trails that guide visitors through the remnants of the fort, including foundations and markers. Located just east of Bozeman, the fort's grounds provide a peaceful setting for reflection and learning. Visitors can walk the trails, read informational panels, and imagine life on the frontier.
