Pfeiffer-Redwood Creek is a verdant enclave within the larger Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, where towering coast redwoods shade a clear, rocky creek. The main trail follows the creek, crossing it several times via footbridges, and winds through ferns, mossy logs, and wildflowers. This is one of the best places in Big Sur to experience the quiet majesty of an old-growth redwood forest without a strenuous climb. The air is cool and fragrant, and the only sounds are birdsong and the gentle rush of water.
Don't miss
- Walk the easy Pfeiffer-Redwood Creek Trail to see massive redwoods up close
- Cross the creek on rustic bridges and look for salamanders in the shallows
- Photograph the dappled light filtering through the redwood canopy
