The Jorvik Viking Centre transports visitors back to the year AD 975, when York was a bustling Viking trading hub known as Jorvik. The centerpiece is a ride in time capsules through a meticulously reconstructed Viking street, complete with lifelike figures, sounds, and smells. After the ride, visitors can explore galleries displaying thousands of artifacts excavated from the Coppergate dig, including coins, jewelry, and tools.
