Boskednan stone circle, often called the Nine Maidens, is a Bronze Age monument consisting of 19 granite stones (originally perhaps 22) arranged in a circle about 22 meters in diameter. Despite its nickname, the circle is not complete, with several stones fallen or missing. The site offers a mystical atmosphere, surrounded by open moorland and distant views of St Michael's Mount. Visitors can wander among the stones, imagining the rituals that took place here over 3,000 years ago. It's a quieter alternative to the more famous Merry Maidens circle.

Don't miss

  • Count the remaining upright stones and spot the fallen ones.
  • Enjoy the solitude and sweeping moorland views.
  • Combine with a visit to nearby Mulfra Quoit for a Neolithic-Bronze Age tour.
