Scotland's Secret Bunker is a vast underground facility hidden beneath a seemingly ordinary farmhouse. Built in the 1950s to house government and military leaders in the event of nuclear war, it remained classified until the 1990s. Today, visitors explore two levels of tunnels, dormitories, a BBC broadcasting studio, and the main operations room with its giant map of Scotland. Interactive exhibits explain Cold War history, and the eerie silence of the 30-foot-thick concrete walls gives a palpable sense of its original purpose.
