Ben Tianavaig is a 413-metre hill on the Isle of Skye, just southeast of Portree. The hike takes you through heather moorland and grassy slopes, culminating in a summit with sweeping vistas across the Sound of Raasay to the mountains of Torridon. On a clear day, you can see the Isle of Raasay, the Outer Hebrides, and the jagged Cuillin ridge. It's a quieter alternative to the nearby Old Man of Storr, offering solitude and a true sense of Skye's wild beauty. The route is moderately steep but well worth the effort for the 360-degree panoramas.

Don't miss

  • Panoramic summit views over the Sound of Raasay and Cuillin mountains
  • Peaceful hike through heather moorland with abundant birdlife
  • Photography opportunities at sunrise or sunset for dramatic light
