Bryn Cader Faner is a Bronze Age burial cairn surrounded by a ring of upright stone slabs, often described as a 'crown' or 'sunburst' due to its radiating shape. Dating back over 4,000 years, this ancient site sits on a lonely hillside in Snowdonia National Park, offering a profound sense of history and isolation. Visitors can walk among the stones, which are set in a shallow depression, and imagine the rituals that once took place here. The site is free to access and provides panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

Don't miss

  • Count the 15 remaining stone slabs that form the outer circle, some leaning at dramatic angles.
  • Photograph the cairn at sunrise or sunset for dramatic lighting and long shadows.
  • Enjoy the remote, peaceful setting with views of the Rhinogydd mountains.
