Riber Castle is a striking 19th-century country house built in a medieval style, perched on a hill above Matlock. Originally a private residence, it later housed a zoo that closed in the 1970s. Today, the castle stands as a roofless ruin, but its elevated position provides one of the best viewpoints in the area. Visitors can walk around the exterior and enjoy panoramic vistas of the Derwent Valley and the surrounding Peak District landscape. The site is a peaceful spot for photography and picnics.
Don't miss
