Masson Mill, built in 1783 by Sir Richard Arkwright, is a key site in the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage area. The six-storey red-brick mill harnessed water power from the River Derwent to spin cotton, pioneering the factory system. Today, it houses a shopping village with fashion, homeware, and gift shops, as well as a restaurant. Visitors can see the original waterwheel and a small museum that explains the mill's role in the Industrial Revolution. The mill's location by the river and its striking architecture make it a picturesque stop for history buffs and shoppers alike.
