Chester Roman Amphitheatre is the largest uncovered Roman amphitheater in Britain, dating from the 1st century AD. Originally used for entertainment, including gladiatorial combat and military training, the site now offers a fascinating glimpse into Roman Britain. Visitors can walk around the excavated remains, view interpretive panels explaining its history, and see the outline of the arena and seating areas. The amphitheater is located just outside the city walls, near the River Dee, and is free to explore at any time.
