Caernarfon town walls are a remarkably intact medieval defensive circuit built between 1283 and 1292, enclosing the historic town center. As part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, they feature eight towers and two original gates: the East Gate and the West Gate. Visitors can walk along sections of the wall for excellent views of the castle, the town, and the surrounding countryside. The walls are a testament to medieval military architecture and offer a tangible link to Caernarfon's past as a fortified English settlement in Wales.

Don't miss

  • Walk the section between the East Gate and the West Gate for the best views
  • Climb the towers for elevated perspectives of the castle and town
  • Spot the original medieval stonework and arrow slits along the circuit
