The West Pier, opened in 1866, was once a grand Victorian pleasure pier but fell into disrepair after storms and fires. Today, its skeletal remains stand as an iconic landmark in the sea, with the skeletal framework of the pavilion and landing stage still visible. The West Pier Trust works to preserve the structure and interpret its history. Visitors can view the pier from the beach or take boat trips for closer views, and interpretive panels explain its past.

  • Read the interpretive panels on the beach detailing the pier's history and conservation efforts.
  • Take a boat tour from Brighton Marina for a unique perspective of the ruins from the water.
