A bit of history

Burj Khalifa was inaugurated in 2010 after six years of construction. It was designed by Adrian Smith of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and built by Emaar Properties. The tower was originally named Burj Dubai but was renamed in honor of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the UAE, who provided financial support during the 2008 financial crisis.
