Independence Square is the expansive central plaza of Ashgabat, surrounded by imposing government buildings and featuring a large fountain complex. The square is dominated by a tall flagpole and the Monument of Independence, a marble column. It serves as the venue for military parades and national holidays. Visitors can walk across the immaculate white marble paving, admire the synchronized fountain shows, and view the adjacent buildings, including the Ministry of Justice and the Central Bank.
